Get to know Morgantown. We think that to know Morgantown is to love it and want to live it. There are several ways to learn about Morgantown. Here are a few of our favorites:
Downtown Morgantown Walking Tour
Downtown Morgantown is a non-profit organization that promotes the “betterment of the Downtown and Wharf Districts” through urban renewal and revitalization efforts. They envision rehabilitated historic storefront buildings, added greenspaces, and beautified streets. Downtown Morgantown’s walking tour offers an opportunity to “step back into the colorful history of Morgantown.” It is a self-guided audio walking tour. You can access tour information at their website here.
Morgantown WV History Museum
This non-profit is the “first city-sponsored” museum in the Morgantown area. It exists to promote Morgantown area history—both locally and regionally—giving access to residents and visitors alike. If you’re not up to a walking tour, you can take a video tour of the city and area (see the video to the right). They also offer group tours of the museum that include, if requested, a demonstration of a printing press and a film documentary on glassmaking.
Visit Mountaineer Country Convention & Visitors’ Bureau
You can visit the bureau on at their Chaplin Road office or check out their website to find tons of things to do in Morgantown and all of Mountaineer Country. They list places to eat, shop, play and stay. You’ll find sporting events, festivals, tourism locations and more at their website.
