Join us for veterans day events 2021. In and around Morgantown and Mountaineer Country, we honor our Military Veterans in a variety of ways. Here are just a few of the Veterans Day events taking place this year.
Learn about World War II and the Greatest Generation. Take your family to Rowlesburg, WV. At the Szilagyi Center (old high school) you can explore the Greatest Generation World War II Museum.
Find your spot on High Street in Downtown-Morgantown for the Annual Veteran’s Day Parade. The parade takes place on November 11 at starting at 6 p.m.! This is a free event and open to the public.
On Thursday, November 11, beginning at 4 p.m., visit the Alpine Lake Resort for Honoring Veterans Day. There will be free appetizers for all veterans! And, veterans will receive 30% off meals. Alpine Lake Resort encourages all veterans to bring their photos and share their stories.
Grab a bite to eat at the veteran-owned and operated restaurant and bar, Mountain Mama’s! They have a large menu of food and drinks and a variety of homemade wing sauces. Make sure to ask about their daily veteran discounts!
While you’re in Terra Alta, stop by Riffle Farms. This veteran-owned, grass-fed American bison farm offers guests tours and tastings, camping getaways, and other family-friendly events.
As part of the Smile for Heroes event on Saturday, November 13, veterans without insurance can receive free dental exams, cleanings, and restorations with the help of Preston Dental Care, PLLC. All interested veterans should call ahead to schedule their appointment. Please provide proof of your military service.
If you’re in town for WVU Football Military Appreciation Day on November 6, swing by the Veteran Tailgate. Hosted by the Wounded Warrior Project and the Morgantown Veteran Center this family-friendly event is catering refreshments. Reservations are required, so go to the Facebook link and reserve your spot.
Take a trip out to Terra Alta to visit High Ground Brewing for some craft beer. The taproom in this veteran-owned brewery is open to the public. It is also pet-friendly and hosts live music events each week.
Defense in Depth, the largest shooting range in West Virginia is offering a special deal to veterans all November long. Veterans can receive 25% off paid-in-full annual memberships. And, between November 9 and November 14, all veterans can enjoy 1 hour of 30-mins of free simulator time, free range-time, free firearm rentals, and a 10% discount on in-store item purchases (excluding firearms).
There are several restaurants where veterans and active-duty servicemen and servicewomen may eat for free (up to $12) at the Green Turtle with their military ID card.
